Leadership

We would like to start by letting you all know how excited we are about this upcoming year.  These first few practices have gone really well. This is also the first time in several years that we have had enough seniors to fill the leadership positions that have been held in past years.  The past couple years with only two seniors eligible for leadership it limited us to two Captains which meant the coaching staff and underclassmen had to take care of responsibilities that would typically be taken care of by our senior leadership.  In some ways this allowed us to see which cheerleaders stepped up.  Several times throughout the year we would send out a GroupMe asking for help with something.  Do you know who made locker signs, decorated our display case, made motivational items, tracked down rosters for sporting teams, contacted the student section in regards to theme nights, cut our music, and worked with Student Government?  These are just a few things that were taken care of by our Juniors who volunteered off of a GroupMe request.  We looked at last years attendance, skill level, and watched the team to see who they respected and would follow in different circumstances.  We took into account who we felt would be most effective in each position.  This being said we believe all of our seniors are leaders.  We spoke with the seniors on Wednesday explaining this and letting them know that even if they are not named with a title that there will be opportunities to step up and lead.
