Splitting for games
Splitting you up evenly after letting the seniors have their choice knowing everyone seems to want the boy games has been a challenge.  I also have to take into account the needs and schedule of the competition team.  For these reasons the competition team has been kept together for the rest of our home games. This only leaves a couple spots at each boys home game.  We have a lot of seniors this year.  If you have already been assigned a boys home game you may not see your name listed on another boys home game.  I could only make it so everyone who is not a senior or on comp would get one home boys game assigned to them.  This does not mean you can not cheer at the boys games.  Everyone is welcome to stay and cheer.  Both Maddy and Vanessa have done this.  I am splitting you guys in to two groups that are well mixed for away games.  These groups will rotate cheering at both the boys and girls away games.  There will be a teal squad and white squad. In the future I will only put your squad color for away game assignments. You may switch games with someone after getting coaches permission if cheering for the opposite game than you are assigned works better for you and the person you are switching with.

The Teal Squad is Chloe, Avery, Alex, Karolyna, Emily s. Maddy, Kaymin, Emily O, Lexi, Karla, and Zaira.  Below list the dates of the away games and if you are cheering for girls or boys.

Monday, Jan. 21, Comp team practice @ JD 4:15pm-6:15pm

Tuesday, Jan. 22, Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball @ Ogden High School.  Load Bus at 3:20pm.  Wear your white uniform, no underliner.  Your hair should be in a half up with your small silver bow. It is an hour bus ride so you may do your hair on the bus if you would like but you must be in uniform.  Wear your cheer warm ups and other Juan Diego gear to stay warm.  The team will split to cover both the girls game at 5:15pm(Teal Squad) and the boys game at 7pm(White Squad).  You will have time during the game you are not cheering to do your homework and eat.  Make sure you come prepared for both. 
Mrs. O'Nash has volunteered to bring turkey and ham sandwiches from Jimmy John's for you to eat on the bus ride to the game. I will bring chips to go with the sandwiches. Please bring $3 to give to Mrs. O' Nash to contribute towards the dinners she has been providing for you.  Thanks!

Thursday, Jan. 17, Competition team practice @ JD from 5pm-6:50pm

Friday, Jan. 18,  Pep Assembly ~ Competition team will perform. All team members should wear their navy uniform with the underliner and navy leggings to school.  Make sure you have your spankies on under your leggings because you will take them off for the pep assembly.  Your hair should be in a mid height pony with the white bow if you are not on the competition team.  Comp team members will wear their comp bows.  Check out time will be sent out in the GroupMe. 
Home Basketball games vs Bonneville.  You will wear the same uniform as above.

Please remember all of your uniform and game day items.  Missing items can result in not cheering.  You should have all your cheer items in your bag so you are always prepared.

Tuesday we will discuss how to split the home boys games going forward.  Some sort of rotation will be put in place.  Remember you are always welcome to cheer at the boys game.  You just need to cover the girls game also if you are scheduled to cheer girls.

Friday, Jan. 18,  Please remember by splitting you up I am trying to make your time commitment lighter.  If we have several absences we won't be able to split and will have to start having everyone attend both games. If you know ahead of time that you can not attend please contact me ASAP.  That way I can try to even out our numbers before it is to late to do anything about it.  Thanks!  During basketball I will let the seniors pick which game they want to cheer at first.

I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday break!

I can't believe there is only a couple more months of cheer before we will be saying goodby to our Seniors :( and looking towards tryouts. 

If you haven't been working on tumbling and other skills during the season now is the time to start working on those skills for tryouts.

Congratulations to the competition team on their first place out of six teams in their division at the USA Regional Cheer Competition!

Please look closely at the schedule below.  I tried to break it up so everyone has the same time commitment this week.  Everyone should have two days that are mandatory for them.  That is a pretty light schedule for this week so please make sure you honor your commitment to the team and be there for your two mandatory events.  Thank you!

Wednesday, Jan. 9, Boys Varsity Basketball @ Tooele High School.  This is a mandatory game for all non comp team members.  It is optional for comp team.  Load the bus at 5pm.  Wear your white uniform with the underliner. Your hair should be in a half up with your small silver bow.  Please do not have any pieces of hair hanging in your face. Wear your warm ups to keep warm on the bus.  Don't forget your poms, water, and snacks. 

Thursday, Jan. 10, Competition team practice @ UXC from 7-9pm

Friday, Jan. 11,  Girls Varsity game vs Stansbury High School @ JD.  Call time is 3:45pm.  This is a mandatory game for non comp team members. Make sure you bring a snack to eat after school.  Wear your navy uniform with the underliner.  Your hair should be in a mid height pony with your white bow.  Seniors may wear their senior bows.

Boys Varsity game vs Stansbury High School @ JD.  Call time 5:30pm.  This game is mandatory for competition team members.  There will be a short cleaning of the comp dance during the warm up period on Friday.  Please use the same instructions for uniform and hair as given for the girls game.  Any non comp team members who want to stay and cheer at the boy's game is welcome.  You just won't be in any planned quarter performances if they are cleaned during warm ups since you won't be at the warm ups to clean.

12/10-12/16

Tuesday, Dec. 11 ~ Boy's away basketball game at Riverton High School.  Load the bus at 6:00pm. Wear your navy uniform, no underliner, low white socks and your hair in a half up with your small silver bow.  Don't forget your poms and a water bottle.  Please wear your warmup jacket and pants or leggings to stay warm while we travel to and from Riverton High School. Since we can not stunt at away games your half up does not have to be from your ears but you can not have any pieces hanging in your face.

Thursday, Dec. 13 ~ Competition team practice at UXC from 7pm-9pm

Friday, Dec. 14 ~ Boys varsity basketball game at 7pm against Hurricane.  This is a change in the schedule.  Call time in 5:00pm.  Meet in the great hall.  Uniform and hair will be decided on Tuesday.

Saturday, Dec. 15 ~ Cheer Christmas party at Chloe's/Coach Tracie's house from 1-3pm.  I will send the address out in the GroupMe. Bring a funny or unique Christmas ornament for an ornament exchange.  Wrap the ornament but do not put your name on it or tell anyone what your ornament is. PLEASE DO NOT GO SHOPPING TOGETHER FOR AN ORNAMENT! We will guess at the end who brought what ornament.  This is a cheer Christmas party tradition. Tuesday on the bus our Captains will explain the ornament exchange in detail.  Bring a favorite treat to share.  RSVP Coach Tracie with regrets only. 

12/17-12/21 During finals week we will only have competition team practices on Tuesday and Thursday.  There will be no regular squad practices or games. Our competition team competes before we return to school and this is the last possible week to practice before that competition so we can not cancel these practices.  If you are on the comp team please study ahead of time for your finals so practice is not an issue with study time.  Use practice as your mental break. :-) Thank you!

Wear your navy uniform without the underliner.  Wear your hair in a low pony with your white bow.  Seniors may wear their Senior bows. Team members scheduled to cheer at this game are Kaiya, Jackie, Kaymin, Emily S., Lexi, Maddison, Harper, Grace, and Vanessa. 

Boys Varsity game against Herriman High School. Game time is 7:00pm.  Meet Coach Mackenzie and Coach Tracie in the dance studio game ready at 5:45pm.  Use the same uniform and hair information listed above.  Team members scheduled to cheer at this game are Sara, Maddy, Zaira, Karla, Millenia, Avery, Adi, and Emily O.

You all did a great job at the showcase on Wednesday!  Both performances looked really good!  If your parents, a family member or friend helped at the showcase please tell them thank you from me! It is a big production and I could not make it happen without a lot of help.

I am going to highlight the next three weeks so you can look ahead.  This week you will see we are splitting Competition team with Non-Comp. team members.  This is happening because the comp team needs to focus on their competition this week and non comp needs to set a halftime for the first basketball game on November 27.  That is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving break.  Competition team members are not cheering at that game because they will have a Comp. team practice that night.  

Tuesday, November 13, Competition team practice 6:30-8:30pm in the Aux. gym

Wednesday, November 14, Non-comp team member practice 6:30-8:30pm in the Aux gym.  This is the only practice to set the Nov. 27th halftime. You must be in attendance to be in the halftime performance.

Thursday, November 15,  Competition team practice at UXC from 7-9pm

Saturday, November 17, Competition team competes @ JAMZ Twin Peaks Championship @ the Salt Palace.  Load bus at 10:15pm.  Return time will be around 2:30pm. Compete time has not been published yet. Navy uniform with your underliner, low white socks, and your comp bow. Hair TBD

Sunday, November 18 - 25, is Thanksgiving break. No practice this week unless Comp team decides to fit one in.

Tuesday, November 27, This is a mandatory game for Non-Comp team members. Non-Comp team members will cheer the first girls home varsity basketball game. The game starts at 7pm. Call time TBD.
Competition team will practice in the Aux gym from 7-9pm

Thursday, November 29, Competition team practice @ UXC 7-9pm

Friday, November 30, Boys basketball game at Mountain View high school.  Load the bus at 5:30pm.
