Review and Comp routine week 7/24-7/27

Tuesday:
CANCELLED: The building will be closed and Coach Anne decided she was not ready to spend more time outside practicing already! :) 
The girls worked very hard at camp and should be fine with just 2 days of review.
Enjoy the extra day off with your family!!!!

No Advanced Tumbling class this week. Please attend the combined tumbling class on Thursday at 6 pm (cost is $6.00) or our Competition team tumbling on Fri. at 11:30 a.m. at Xtreme (cost is $10)
to avoid receiving an unexcused absence.

Wednesday:
Review practice 8-11 a.m. Remember to bring Poms every day.
Comp. routine camp at Xtreme 5- 9 p.m. (Camp choreography monies due $150- needed in order to be put in routine) Bring water and a snack. (We will also vote for captains tonight)

Thursday:
Review practice 8-11 a.m. (weights has been rescheduled by Casey)
6 p.m.- Beginning and Intermediate Tumbling class combined this week.  ($6- Cheerleaders over 2 weeks in arrears will not be allowed to tumble and will receive an unexcused absence) If you are on comp you do not have to attend this class.
Comp. routine camp at Xtreme 5-9 p.m.  Bring water and a snack.

Friday:
Regular comp practice 9:30-12:30 (Don't forget your $10 and make sure you are current)

NO CHEER PRACTICES OR TUMBLING FROM 7/28-8/6 Rest up for 2 a days starting on 8/7
new calendars will be handed out in August that will have our schedule through November and some of December. (If you would like to schedule privates during our time off for either stunting or tumbling please let Coach Anne know and she can set it up with Zak or Jake.) Also look into classes or privates at Utah Xtreme or Macs Cheer gym if you are interested.

Camp Starts Monday!!!

Please make sure you look over all of your camp paperwork to make sure you get everything packed that you will need.
Outfits will follow the same order as last week but check your sheet for how to wear your hair.

Do not forget your release forms or camp costs check. You will need both to participate at camp.
Bring your St Jude list if you wish to participate.

NO CHEERLEADER MAY DRIVE THEMSELVE TO CAMP-It is against camp and school policy.  Please text Coach Anne ASAP if you will need a carpool to camp.

Monday:
9:30 a.m. Senior Leaders meet Coach Anne at school to go up to the U.
or meet at the U at 10:00. (Parents must drive you up)
(Coach Anne and Mrs. Meyer will be driving the girls up)
10:30 a.m. All Carpooling cheerleaders and parents meet at JD- Check in with a coach when you arrive at the school. (coach will check that payment and release forms are turned in- they will also collect the St. Jude list if you have it.)
10:45 a.m. Car pools leave for U of U- (Parents not car pooling are also welcome to meet at JD and follow Coach Alissa up to the dorm area at the U.)

11:15-11:30 a.m. Everyone arrive at the U of U to check in with Coach Anne
You will get your keys, find your room (see who your roomate is) and bring in all of your donated items and personal items up to dorms. (remember the fee for loosing your key is $65)
Get Settled!
12:15 a.m. Eat the lunch you brought from home.
12:35 a.m. ALL cheerleaders must meet in our conference room or designated area. You must be completely ready to go to the field. NO phones or electronics. NO jewelry. Zebra bags and water bottles should be with you. BRING your spirit!!!
12:45 a.m. Leave to go to the field for the start of camp!!!

Please see your sample schedule for the rest of the weeks itinerary. We will get an exact schedule upon check in.

Thursday:
Parents are encouraged to come to the dorms around 7 am to help get you out of the dorm rooms. We MUST be completely checked out and have everything clean before we go to the field at 7:50 a.m.
We will start our final evaluations around 9 a.m.
Parents should plan on taking their cheerleaders home around 11:30 a.m. give or take depending on the size of the camp. (If you need a ride home please have your parents arrange a car pool with another parent or text Coach Anne- You will need a note if you are not riding home with your parent.)

Please plan on resting when you get home. You will need some down time after camp!
PARENTS: Your cheerleader will probably be exhausted and cranky. They will just need some food, lots of liquid and plenty of sleep. I promise they will be back to normal in no time! :)

July 10th- July 14th

Our Last week of practice before camp schedule:
(you will receive updated balance sheets this week with your camp costs included)

Tuesday:
Practice- 8 am -11 am Please wear your Navy spankies, White shorts with the megaphone, your new cheer shoes and the Navy shirt to practice. (I want to have a run through of your camp wear to make sure it is ready for camp.) Also, wear your Navy and White polka dot bow with your hair up in a high pony. No hair in your face. (People not properly dressed will stay after and condition) NO Jewelry. Wear Low no show white socks.
Advanced Tumbling 11-12 IMPORTANT PLEASE READ:(Cost is $10. Please bring your money and any past due money. All monies need to be brought current. Cheerleaders who owe for more then 2 weeks will NOT be allowed to do the tumbling class and WILL receive an unexcused absence. We need to pay our instructors on time and it is difficult to keep track of everyone and what they have and have not paid for when we have 41 cheerleaders attending over 4 different classes. Please be responsible and remember your money. You can always pay ahead if you have a difficult time remembering each class) 

Wednesday:
Practice- 8 am - 11 am  Please wear your Zebra spankies, Zebra sports bra and white tank with your new shoes and your teal bow to practice. (Hair in high pony with poof- NO hair in your face.) No Jewelry. (If you feel uncomfortable wearing only your spankies at the school you may wear your white shorts over them.) Low no show white socks.
Leadership Meeting 11- 11:30 a.m.
MANDATORY CAMP MEETING: 6-7 pm
Camp meeting will be held in the cafeteria in the high school.
Cheerleader and a parent need to be present.  You will receive important information and all of your required camp paperwork at the meeting. You can NOT attend camp with out filling out the release form.
You can go to www.UCAVarsity.com and check out all kinds of info on camp if you are interested. Please look at the Team up for St. Jude information.
Camp costs of $330 each are due on Thursday at practice. You must pay for camp before you will be able to attend. (The camp requires payment of fees before the camp in order for the cheerleader to participate)

Thursday:
Practice 8 am-11 am  Please wear your Teal Soffe shorts with your Jersey. You need to wear a white or grey sports bra under your jersey. (You can wear a white tank top if it feels more comfortable) White, Navy or Grey Spankies under your shorts. Low no show white socks, New shoes. Hair up in a high pony, braided across the front with your white and silver bow.
Extra Conditioning 11-11:30 am For anyone who has tardies, lates, missing items during the week and any laps the team may need to run because of garbage left in the gym. (It would be great if we didn't need to do this!)
Intermediate Tumbling 5-6 pm  
Beginning Tumbling 6-7 pm

Please be responsible and remember your money. You can always pay ahead if you have a difficult time remembering each class)
You must bring your $50 Activity fee if you have not already paid it in order to secure your spot on the team. We are still considering just having 20 members for Nationals and must have a firm commitment this week. This includes guys so please let them know in case they forget to read the blog.

Monthly Mandatory Bonding Activity: Sat. at Lagoon.

June 26th- July 3rd

Tuesday June 26th:
Practice 8-11 a.m.- cheerleaders will be learning dances for camp, doing conditioning and they will also be learning technique for one legged stunting from Nate Blackhurst.
Advance Tumbling- 11-12 (Attending a regular tumbling class with your team mates is MANDATORY each week. Comp. members MUST attend a regular class AND the comp. tumbling class through out the summer) Cost $10
Wednesday June 27th:
Practice 8-11 a.m.- we will work on the dances for camp, cheers, character building and conditioning.
Leadership Only meeting: 11-11:30 a.m.
Thursday June 28th:
Practice 8-11 a.m.- We will have a guest to work on Jump technique and stretching. You will learn a new dance, clean the camp dance and meet about the car wash as well as do conditioning. (JV and Soph. will get their poms today)
Extra conditioning from 11-11:30 for all tardies etc. for the week. (We will also hand out absence notices)
Donations for Car Wash are due today- Thank you so much for all of your donations.
MANDATORY Bonding Activity at Makaelee Main-Naccarato's house- 12:00-3:00 Pool Party. (you do not have to swim but you DO have to attend for at least one hour to avoid an unexcused absence) Please bring $3 for pizza, drinks and snacks.
Intermediate Tumbling- 5-6 PM with Jake- Cost $6
Beginning Tumbling- 6-7 PM with Zak -Cost $6
COMP. Parent meeting: 6-7 PM (We are waiting on confirmation of where it will be held) Please consider doing comp. team this year if you have the minimum requirements (handsprings, stunting skills) We have decided to compete in the Super Large Varsity Coed division which allows us to have up to 30 members. We currently have 24. Let's fill up the team, show our school pride and spirit and how good JD really is!!!
Parents will be voting on where we are going to be attending Nationals. (California or Disney World) We will also be attending Nationals in Las Vegas. We have LOTS of fundraising planned for this year so please don't let costs hold you back. Please text Anne if you are interested in comp. team, we still have quite a few who said they were interested at tryouts that I have not yet heard from! We will have an amazing fun year, Don't miss out!! (Feel free to come to the meeting just to hear more if you are undecided) Practices and competitions are only held on Saturdays. Our first competition is not until November.
Friday June 29th:
Comp. practice- 9:30-12:30 (Time change will be permanent) Cost $10.00 includes gym rental fees and comp. tumbling fees. We will be working on advancing our stunting skills, both group and single basing, working on jumps, single downs from one legged stunts, baskets, tumbling and routine tips.
Saturday June 30th:
Fundraiser- Car Wash at the 3 minute wash in Draper. 9 a.m.-4 p.m.: Please remember to bring the ticket stubs with your name on them and all of the money you have collected for selling tickets in a small plastic baggy with your name on it.  You may add tips to the baggie while you are working.
ALL CAMP WEAR MONEY IS DUE TODAY- You must pay your $120 for your camp wear today in order to receive your camp wear on Tuesday of next week. (Ticket sales generate $7 profit per ticket to the cheerleader and 100% of the tips earned at the car wash go to the cheerleader)
Fundraisers are MANDATORY. Please plan on attending for the entire shift you are scheduled for in order to avoid an unexcused absence.
Tuesday July 3rd:
Leadership meeting 7:45-8:00 a.m.
Practice 8-11 a.m. We will condition, get placed in formations for camp dance, clean dance, stunt, work on baskets, practice for camp, do a character buidling activity and get bags and camp wear. We will also draw for secret sisters.
MANDATORY tumbling practice for ALL team members (regardless of skill level) 11-12 Cost $6

Note: Please remember any one missing practice on July 3rd will receive an unexcused absence. This will result in the cheerleader not being allowed to perform in our camp dance evaluation (they will be missing setting and final cleaning of the dance) and will need to pick up their camp wear from Coach Anne's house. (We will also be drawing for secret sisters so don't forget to ask who you have if you miss) 
This practice has been on the calendar since tryout packets went out. (Summer vacation dates were clearly marked on the front page of the tryout packet as June 1st-17th.  Extra vacation dates have been added as well)

Schedule for 6/19-6/22

PLEASE NOTE: ALL Summer Practices will be held in the Elementary Gym (where we had tryouts)
Unless otherwise specified. This includes Beg, Int. & Advanced Tumbling classes.

Please read all red updated information!

Tues. 19th: Summer Practices start 8a.m.-11a.m. (Do not be late or you will stay and condition)
Advanced Tumbling Class: 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. MANDATORY, even if you are on the cmp team.  (if you are working on any kind of tuck or above on your own this is your tumbling class- this will be a fast paced class that has you work hard. Nate will work with you on running and standing tumbling, tucks-fulls. Nate can spot any tumbling you want to throw. Please plan on pushing yourself)
Please remember to bring your $10 for tumbling class (you may pay for one class at a time or by the month or whatever amount is easier for your parents- June will have 2 advanced classes and there will be 4 classes before camp.) There are only 7 tumbling classes TOTAL for the summer.

Wed. 20th: Practice 8-11a.m. (Please make sure you bring the items on the Binder list that was given on Tues. to todays practice) You will be receving your shoes and poms today as long as you are current on your cheer balances from the May 30th due date.
Evening Hockey game at Steiner Ice Rink- You will receive updated info from your head cheerleader
(You do NOT need to attend the hockey game if you are going to open gym)
Our Last Comp. qualification at Xtreme Gym- Open gym time is from 8-10 pm. Cost is $2 (Our newest comp coach, Jake Newell will be there to help and watch for qualifying. Please make sure you show stunting and tumbling skills) We have about 5-6 spots left for comp. team (depending on the actual final commitment of those currently invited. We can not have more then 30 total on the team so if you are interested please come and get your spot.) Open gym is optional and their is no instruction during open gym.

Thurs. 21st: Leadership meeting 7:45-8:00 AM (Don't be late or you will condition)
Practice 8-11 a.m. (you will receive your tickets to sell for the car wash that will be held next Sat. at the drive through car wash on 123rd south. more info will come home)
MANDATORY Int. Tumbling Class: 5-6 p.m. (if you can throw handsprings by yourself but are not working on throwing tucks by yourself yet please attend this class)
MANDATORY Beginning Tumbling Class:6-7 p.m. (if you do not yet throw handsprings consistently by yourself please attend this class)
Cost for either class is $6 please do not forget your money. (you can pay each week or for the month which is 2 classes for June or pay through camp which will be 4 classes)

Fri. 22nd: Competition practice starts 8-11 a.m. at Utah Xtreme cheer gym. Cost $10.00 this covers the use of the gym and your 1 hour tumbling class.  Please realize that a normal one hour tumbling class costs $10-$15 to attend and we are getting 2 hours of gym use AND a tumbling class with the gym owner for only $10 (You may pay each week or by the month which will be 2 times for June or until we go to camp which will be 3 times.) BE ON TIME or you will do extra conditioning.  We will be working on new stunting techniques! You ARE required to attend both a regular tumbling class AND the competition class through out the summer or you will receive an unexcused absence for whichever class you miss- We combine the advanced and competition team tumbling sometime after the summer, just like last year. People on comp team should be tumbling twice a week. The time and money commitment for our comp team is significantly less then other schools and a lot less then all star gyms. Please remember this team is optional and does require extra time and money as stated in the try out packet.

Very Good Job today girls!!! We did quite a bit for our first practice. Tomorrow will be a little more laid back, We will however be doing warm ups and Pilates tomorrow so come ready to work your abs.
Don't forget ALL your binder items so that you don't have to stay late and condition. Conditioning for Tardies and/or forgotten items will from 11-11:30 tomorrow. (You will need to stay for 15 or 30 minutes depending on how many items/tardies you have)
