ALL SQUADS

Monday

All squads including the competition team will attend the hockey game.  Meet in the great hall ready at 5:30pm.  The bus will depart at 5:45pm.  Wear your cheer shoes, white socks, warm ups (not cold gear) with a Juan Diego cheer or spirit shirt under your jacket. If your think you will be cold you may wear clothing layered under your warm ups. Your hair should be in a half up with your lace bow.  Bring your poms!  We have two hockey players on our competition team.  Let's show them our support!  :-)

Tuesday

Varsity and Sophomore squads will attend the wrestling match Tuesday night.  JV squad members are welcome to attend but it is not mandatory for JV.  The Varsity match starts at 6pm.  Please arrive by 5:30pm in uniform and ready.  Wear your shell, skirt, cheer shoes, low white socks, lace spankies, and your hair in a half up with your lace bow.  Don't forget your poms!

   Teacher/Staff Appreciation for November

 November teacher/staff gifts are due.  Please make sure you give your teacher or staff member a Thanksgiving card or thank you card letting them know we are thankful for all they do.  A few of you asked if it is ok to include a treat or small gift with your card?  That would be fine.  Monday on the bus I will check to see who has completed this. Varsity was asked to complete theirs by last Thursday and text me.  If you are on Varsity and have texted me already you will receive a positive towards working off any tardies or infractions in the future.

Cheer Hoodies and Leggings

Every year at this time we order cheer hoodies and sweatpants.  This year the Varsity squad voted to order hoodies and matching leggings.  If you worked the kids football cheer clinic you earned money to help pay for these items.  These are not mandatory items.  They are completely optional.  If you would like me to include you in the order please text me what size you would like.  The info on the leggings say they are junior sizing.  The hoodie is from the same place as last year and should fit similar.

Leadership Sweaters

I still have several leadership sweaters to hand out.  I can't hand them out until I receive your payment of $89 to pay for them. A few of you have received yours because you had credit on your account. Please bring your payment ASAP.  I would really like to get them out of my car.  :-) Thanks!

The JD Competition Stunt Team's first competition is THIS Saturday, November 22!

Located at South Towne Expo Center!

We would love to have support from the non-comp members! Come out to support us! :)

Please bring pony tail holders and your bow. Come with hair curled.

ALL BOYS & GIRLS NOT GETTING HAIR DONE ARRIVE BY 12:15pm with uniform on, shoes on, hair and make up.

We will be checking hair, make up, and nails. We will make you redo hair/make up or clip your nails if they aren't as we previously specified. If you need help with hair there is still time to sign up to get your hair done. 

Boys: Wear white undershirt, matching white socks, and white cheer shoes.

NO JEWELRY ALLOWED and GIRLS CUT YOUR NAILS SHORT!

PERFORMANCE TIME IS SCHEDULED AT: 1:54pm!

All comp team members must stay for awards. Awards are right after we perform around 2pm.

We recommend that you arrive 20 min prior to performance time. Competitions will run early or behind scheduled times so plan accordingly.

Wear your school colors to represent JD!

Team Mom & Dad shirts will hopefully be here Friday! We will keep you updated.

There is a fee to get in: $10 for adults, $5 for seniors (65 yrs+), $5 for children (6-15 yrs) and age 5 and under are FREE.

Sophomore 11/17-11/21

TIME CHANGE FOR PRACTICE THIS WEEK!

We will practice with JV and Varsity on Tuesday from 3:15-5pm. We will be learning/going over basketball and wrestling cheers. Micah will help with hardwood tumbling during this practice so you will still get your tumbling time. 

Teacher Gifts

You will need to give out a Thanksgiving gift or a thank you card to your teachers this month. You have until Thanksgiving break to give your teachers their gifts!

Evaluations

I am still talking with Tracie to set up times for when we will do our end of year evaluations. I will let you know when you can sign up and what times you can choose from as soon as possible.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation For November

This month is a Thanksgiving or thank you card. These must be done before Thanksgiving break, which means November 25 is your last day to get it done. Text me when you complete it. Failure to do so will result in an infraction. Remember those infractions add up and hurt your try out scores next year.

New Calendar

Everyone please check the calendar posted on the blog to see when your first game is. All non-comp girls will attend the Varsity hockey game on Monday, November 24. More details will be forthcoming about what to wear, departure times, etc. Missing this game will be counted as an unexcused absence for all non-comp girls so you must attend. 

First Game

Our first basketball game will be away at Orem on Tuesday, December 2. We will cheer for JV and Varsity boys. I will let you know specific times as we get closer.

VARSITY

Tuesday

We will not have morning practice this Tuesday. Practice will be held in the afternoon instead.  Comp has a late practice Monday night.  I felt it would be hard for the Comp girls to make it Tuesday morning.  So we will practice from 3:15 to 5:00pm in the Elementary gym.  During that time you will have a tumbling session on the hardwood with Micah.  Please do not forget your $5.  If you have an evaluation scheduled I will conduct them during the practice.

Thursday

6:05am practice. 

 Alissa will teach you a competition sideline dance routine.  We will use this routine to compete at Region and State.  Both dates are listed on the new calendar.

Leadership Sweaters

Varsity Important updates please read

VARSITY

IMPORTANT UPDATES PLEASE READ

If you are able to donate something for Friends and Family please make sure you contact Ann Kruse ASAP.  Her information is on the Friends and Family post.  I am sure anything would be appreciated!

The schedule for basketball season has been posted.  There may be a few adjustments but right now Varsity 1 is comp team members  and Varsity 2 is non comp.  We had to split this way because of scheduling issues for comp members.

Over the past few weeks the Varsity Squad has had attendance issues.  It is very hard to put a performance together when we are constantly missing people.  Because we noticed an increase in absences the Squad was reminded that if you miss a practice before a performance you run the risk of not being in the performance.  This is not meant to be a punishment. We do this for safety reasons. It is necessary to have proper practice time to work on stunts and tumbling patterns before performing.  Also having to change things constantly is difficult and not fair to the girls who attend practice.  We tried to put a fun All Star type performance together for Friends and Family. We asked all of you if you were willing to put the extra effort in to do this and you were all on board.  Unfortunately due to absences it became challenging. This morning we had several absences and only one person notified us ahead of time.  We may still be able to use a modified version of the original Friends and Family performance for a basketball halftime but at this time an alternate performance was put together this morning. 

Fridays practice at UXC is for squad members that learned the new performance at Thursday morning practice.  The practice will start at 3:30pm and probably last about an hour.  If you were not at Thursday morning practice you are still welcome to come support the squad but we will not be adding anyone to the performance.
