JV game

JV cheer checkout Thursday at 1:48 (right after 5th period). Hair needs to be in a high ponytail with a braid in front. Wear low socks. Remember to bring water and snacks. Whoever is signed up for snacks and meals please remember those. You need to be completely ready by 2:30 so you can review the dance and sidelines all together. Coach Kara will meet you by the doors to go out to the field at 3. Do not be late!

Cheerleader Sweatshirts and Pants Order Form

Here is the order form for the cheerleaders Sweatshirts and Optional Sweatpants.
(All cheerleaders need to purchase a sweatshirt to be used at cold games- If the cost is a problem, please contact Coach Anne to work something out. Sweat pants are Optional except for girls who make the Hip Hop team will be required to have them for competition and they will cost more if you purchase them later due to the quantity discount.)

The credits for the mini cheer clinic are as follows:

Varisty game

Varsity dress time is 4:00 PM. You must be in the Great Hall "Ready to walk out to the bus" by 4:35 p.m. (Anyone who is late will run 1 lap for each minute they are late or not ready- These will be run when you get to Springville. This also means all jewelry off, correct socks, makeup, shoes, bow, hair, etc. Just do what you are supposed to do and be on time and you won't have any problems.)
Nicole will be checking jewelry, etc. She will also be the Coach accompanying you on the bus.
Coach Anne and Alissa will meet the team in Springville.
Dress: CLEAN uniform, white bra- no straps showing, low white no show socks, Hair in High Pony- hairsprayed w/ Braid and Polka dot bow.
Bag: Should be packed with all of the items on your laminated list.
We will not stop for food but you should have plenty of snacks and Tiara's mom will bring food.
Bring your own water bottles!!!
Make sure all of your paperwork is turned in to Brittney by tomorrow morning BEFORE 11 a.m. or you will not be allowed to cheer.  (Britt is checking out at 11 am and will be turning in all the paperwork at 11 so don't wait until the last minute! It has been 2 weeks now that we have been asking for the paperwork and it is Mandatory for me to turn it in to Chris Long)

One more thing! Positive Program- Teachers

I want to make sure the parents are aware of our campaign of being positive and creating a positive environment this year.  We have been working on this through the summer with the team. We had positive reinforcement exercises during and outside of practice. We also have an ongoing positive "preferral" program in which the coaches and cheerleaders can give a positive "preferral" award to someone they feel has done a great job at being positive or has impacted them personally in a positive way. (These "preferrals" also give the girls a free tardy when/if needed along with the recognition)

We are continuing this campaign into the school year and the school itself by having each of the cheerleaders be a teachers "personal cheerleader" for the year.  Our hope is that the teachers will receive some much needed and well deserved recognition for all they do and will help teach the students to be appreciative while showing the teachers we care.

Below is a list of each cheerleaders assigned teacher. (which most of them chose) Please make sure you are completing your monthly assignment.
Last week the girls should have introduced themselves to their teacher "as their personal cheerleader" and given them something that involves an apple theme for back to school. They also need to get their teachers birth month and day in order to make sure they recognize their birthday. The birthdays need to be reported to Coach Anne to verify you have completed your assignment.

Tuesday 8/28:
Practice 6:05-7:15 a.m. (prepare for this week's games)
7:15-7:30 a.m. Extra Conditioning (we have quite a few who still need to do their conditioning)
6 p.m. Beg. & Int. Tumbling (You must be attending either this class or the advanced class on Saturdays to avoid getting an unexcused absence.)

Wednesday 8/29:
Extra Cheers Practice: 6:30-7:15 a.m.  ALL new team members must attend in order to avoid an unexcused absence.  Kate Knudson will be teaching this week.

Thursday 8/30:
Practice 6:05-7:15 a.m. (prepare for this week's games- Varsity start 80's night practice)
JV game at home vs Springville 3:30 pm (Kara will let you know what time you are checking out)

Advanced Tumbling: 10-11 a.m. at Xtreme $5 for just the tumbling class.
(You must be attending either this class or the Tues. class to avoid getting an unexcused absence.)

This week should be a much easier week for everyone!!! Good Job and making it through last week and everyone did a great job with the mini cheerleaders.  I will work on preparing our order for our sweats this week. I will hand out and post the order form when it is ready.

Optional Cheer Decals

The Optional Cheer Decals are in and ready to purchase. They are $5 each.
I will have them at practice on Tues and Wed mornings for purchase.
B is not for sale and must be earned by the girls for being outstanding in Spirit, Attendance and Attitude for the month. Coaches will pick these girls each month.

Here is the information for your cheer pictures.  Everyone who purchased a packet will have their pictures posted on this site. Please pick the poses you would like for your packet and contact Tara by e mail or phone.  DO NOT order them off the website. You need to call her or use the e mail address info@mountainhighportraits.com.  Include your name, phone number and address and which pictures you have chosen. (Team and Squad pics will be chosen by the coaches)

Go to www.onlineprophotos.com  put in JD and August 25 2012  click on select and then the password is JD. If the site is experiencing problems just sign up with your e mail and you will get a notice as soon as it is working again. They are experiencing some difficulties with their new downloads.

Sorry it took her longer then expected. She was in a car accident over a week ago and it set her back.

All of the photos will be professionally touched up before printing and sending them to you.

Friday

Varsity:
Please be at the school at 4:30 to eat dinner as a team. Don't forget your $5. Mrs. Mendez will be bringing Fettucine Alfredo, Spaghetti, Salad and Breadsticks.
If you are not eating with the team please be there by 5 in your uniform. Hair done in high pony with messy bun (Anne can do messy buns if you need her to) Mrs. Naccarato has made us cute Flowers to wear for our beach theme night. You will get these and your tattoos when you get there.
Be READY to practice at 5:15.  No underliners, low white no show socks, Nicole will be checking for jewelry and it will be kept until next week if you have it on after 5:15- (This is a huge safety hazard and we could be grounded for having jewelry on) White Bra- NO bra straps showing (unless you would like to wear your underliners next week)

JV and Soph.:
Please meet Kara in the Great Hall at 6 pm. Ready!! (uniforms, you are encouraged to wear beach themed items) You will need to set up a table outside of the stadium for the kids clinic check in. You will also need a table for the T-shirts.  Please check in the girls, give them their T shirt, Hawaiian Lei and put a JD tattoo on them.  Remind the parents to keep their children until 5 miniutes left on the game clock in the second quarter and then bring them to you in the south end of the bleachers. Also, parents are not allowed on the field. You will take the kids back to the bleachers after halftime. After ALL of the kids have been picked up, you can change and just be part of the student section.


Movie Night will be at Coach Anne's house after the game. Bring $5 for Pizza. We will have drinks.
Bring a blanket to sit on the lawn.

Kids Clinic Info.


Kids Clinic for Football
(Info. Page)





1)  Cost for participants in the clinic $40.00.

·       Will include 2 day session with cheerleaders

·       Pictures will be posted online for parents

·       Includes a clinic t-shirt and Hawaiian Lei



2)  Credits for cheerleaders

·       Cheerleaders will receive $10 of the proceeds per cheerleader form with their name on it. (up to the full price) to be used towards the purchase of cheer sweats. (extra's will be disbursed evenly through team)

·       Forms without a cheerleader name on them will all be lumped together and the $10 from each will be evenly distributed to all of the cheerleaders who worked the clinic. (to be used for their sweats)



3) Working the Clinic

·       Soph. & JV squads will work first day and Varsity the next.  Leaders should work both days.

·       Soph & JV squads will sit with the participants in the bleachers and then bring them onto the field for half time. You may not leave until ALL of the participants have been picked up by their parents and you have given them the paper with the website for their pictures.

·       Parents will drop off and pick up the participants at the South end of the home side bleachers. (NOT on the field) Check in will be outside the stadium. Participants will pick up their T shirts upon check in.





4)  Leaders will choreograph appropriate material for their assigned age group. (music will be picked by them and approved by Coach Anne)

·       4-5 year olds   

·       6-7 year olds

·       8-9 year olds

·       10 & up

·       SJB cheer team will be choreographed by Alissa.



5) Preparation

·       Coach Anne will order all of the needed items and price out sweats.

·       Leaders get choreography done for each squad. Get musis to Alissa by Tues. night (either on CD or by email) She will cut all of the music into one song. 

·       Teach to team for clinics



6) Groups are as follows:

*We will sell DVD's of the performance. Recording to be done by Monica Ulmer. Editing by Monica and Mr. Wilets. DVD's should be ready approx. 2 weeks after performance.

*Our last years Sophomore uniforms and a large number of cheer skirts from our uniform closet will be on sale to anyone wishing to purchase authentic JD cheerleader merchandise.  The uniforms will cost $50 and the skirts only will cost $20 (which can be worn with the clinic Tshirt) Only the Sizes we have on hand are available. Garments can be altered to fit smaller girls (from an outside source) Anyone purchasing the cheer uniform items can wear them to any of our kids clinics for performing.

Tuesday 21st:
$-If you have not paid for your warm ups. The money must be brought in today.
Optional Parent Merchandise Order Forms will be given out.
Cheer Papers Due!!!!! You will need all of your paperwork turned in to be eligible to cheer this week.
Cheer practice from 6:05-7:00 a.m.  (I am letting everyone go early to get ready for pictures)
We will have someone who is filming at this practice so please wear your Navy Shirts with your Navy spankies and white shorts so we can make sure we look professional. Hair can be worn down since we will only be working on dances but NO jewelry.  
7-7:10 Leadership meeting- we will briefly talk about the kids clinic and our bonding activity this week.
Varsity- If you are one of the leaders making up the kids clinic dances-please have the dance choreographed and ready to teach along with the music either on an mp3 player or CD.  (music should only be 30-40 seconds long)
You will need to have your music on a CD to give to Coach Alissa or e mail it to her for cutting.
Beg. & Int. Tumbling: 6-7 pm in the high school. $6

Wednesday 22nd:
Cheers Practice from 6:30-7:20 a.m. (Mandatory for all cheerleaders who are new to the program this year) Optional for everyone else.  Makaelee Naccarato will be teaching the cheers this week.
Kids Clinic Fundraiser- 3-5:30 pm for all JV and Soph. squad members. (Varsity Leaders should attend both days) Meet in the Great Hall by 3 p.m.  IN UNIFORM, low white socks, cheer shoes, no bra straps showing, no jewelry. Hair can be worn however you want it as long as it is neat.
Comp. Stunting Practice- Xtreme 8-9:30 p.m. this is Mandatory. (No money needed, the $10 we pay on Saturdays will cover both)

Thursday 23rd:
Cheer Practice from 6:05-7:15 a.m.   (Extra Conditioning from 7:15-7:30 a.m. for Tardies, etc.)
We will be working on our game day material.
You can wear whatever you want but no jewelry, hair up and no spaghetti straps. Wear spankies.
Soph.game and JV game. You will get the details from your squads coaches.

Friday 24th:
Varsity game vs. Manti (JD Beach Bash Theme) @ 7:00 Dress time is 5:00 (you need to be in the dance room finishing getting ready, you will get your tattoos, etc. and have 15 minutes to finish dressing) READY to go time is 5:15. Please review your cheer rules to make sure you are game day ready and will avoid extra conditioning.
You WILL receive a tardy if you are not READY to practice at 5:15.
JV and Soph squads meet your squad and coaches in the Great Hall @ 6:20 pm. READY (Please get details from your squads coaches.) You will help check in the kids clinic participants and then come out to the field. You will need to sit in the stands with your squad until after halftime. (NO cell phones) If you are planning on walking around or sitting somewhere else after half time you MUST bring a change of clothes to wear.  (We will go over more details regarding the kids clinic during practice)
Bonding Activity: Movie night on the lawn @ Coach Anne's house after the game. (Lexi's Dad will be bringing an outdoor screen and movie projector)
Cheerleaders Parents and Football Players and Parents are all welcome. We will order Pizza and have drinks for all. You may want to bring a blanket to sit on.
We will discuss all of this on Tuesday morning.

Saturday 25th:
Comp. Practice 9-11 a.m. Xtreme  $10 (Remember you can not be more then 2 weeks behind)
Advanced Tumbling is from 10-11 a.m.  (If you are only doing tumbling the cost is $5)

Here is a list of the papers everyone needs to turn in by next Tues.
(Coach Anne has to have them turned in to our Athletic Director next week- You WILL have extended conditioning if you do not turn them in on time.)

UHSAA physical forms (These need to be turned in to the school office, If you are new to JD you will need a physical, if returning you just fill out the second page regarding any new injuries since last year- The school has probably been bugging you about these forms)

The following need to be turned in to Coach Anne:

Student - Athlete and Parent/Guardian Athletic Handbook-  Signature Page
(this can only be found on the www.JDCHS.org website. Click on Sports and you will find the link on the second line down at the top of the page. Both parent and student need to read the handbook and then print out and sign the last page and return to your Coach) You can not cheer next week with out it.

This Week's schedule

Tuesday August 14th:
Extra practice for dances 7-8 a.m.  Varsity- If you are new to Varsity or the team (or if you do not know every dance) You MUST attend.  Jv and Soph squad members are welcome.
Regular Cheer practice 8-11 a.m.- Wear your hair in a high pony and a braid. Navy shirt with white shorts and your polka dot bow.
Last Summer Advanced Tumbling w Nate 11-12 (all back monies need to be brought in or you will not be able to tumble and will receive an unexcused absence)

Wednesday August 15th:
Extra cheer practice 7-8 a.m.   All New team members and anyone who needs extra help with the cheers MUST attend.  (please be advised that anyone who can not perform the cheers at their first game will be benched until they learn them.)
Regular Cheer practice 8-11 a.m. - Wear your hair in a poof with high pony and your white and silver bow.  Jersey with white TANK under it with teal shorts. We are back in the high school this week and need to make sure we are dressed appropriately so we don't get in trouble.
11 a.m. Extra Conditioning for those who were tardy etc. from last week and this week.
Leadership meeting from 11-11:15 a.m.

Thursday August 16th:
NO MORNING PRACTICE
Beginning and Intermediate Tumbling Combined- 6-7 pm in the High School.  (all back monies need to be brought in or you will not be able to tumble and will receive an unexcused absence)

Friday August 17th:
Away game @ Salem Hills- Varsity only (Please see bus schedule in blog below)

Saturday August 18th:
Comp. practice moves to Sat. this week.  Tentative time: 9-12 (this may change depending on the boys football schedule on Saturdays. Please check back later this week to see exact time.)
Don't forget your $10. (You will not be allowed to owe for more than 2 weeks.)
Coach will announce boy captains today. 

We will move to our school schedule next week- morning practices Tues. & Thurs. 6-7:20 a.m.
Extra Cheers practice Wed. morning 6:30-7:20 for all new team members and anyone who needs extra help with cheers. (This is MANDATORY for all the above mentioned cheerleaders) These practices will run the first 3 weeks.  We will be using the Wed. Morning practices for dances after this.
